Iceberg Icecreams – Journey of Building a Brand from Scratch

Iceberg Organic Icecreams: Journey of Building a Brand from Scratch. Part of the educational series of blogposts by Agribusiness Academy India.

Welcome to this inspiring series where we share stories highlighting the power of asking the right questions. Today, we bring you the journey of Dr. Suhas B. Shetty, who built an ice cream enterprise from scratch—a story filled with valuable lessons for anyone aspiring to start their own enterprise.

Suhas’ enterprise-building journey began in 2013 with a humble ₹3 lakh investment to open an ice cream store. After early success, with a quest to stand out in the icecream market, he launched India’s first organic ice cream brand in 2019. Recognizing that ice cream is often seen as unhealthy, he aimed to change that perception by offering guilt-free, healthy, and delicious options.

He innovated with recipes, introducing a variety of customizable flavors made with premium ingredients like A2 milk, organic butter, fresh fruits, premium nuts, and soy-based organic colors—all sourced from trusted suppliers.

Sustainably Sourced Organic Ingredients

Leveraging his educational background, he developed a natural preservative to extend the shelf life of ice cream to six months. He also established a manufacturing plant in Nellore, Andhra Pradesh, with a daily capacity of 20,000 liters. Currently, Iceberg is operating its own branded 70+ ice cream stores across India.

Iceberg’s end-to-end capabilities in recipe innovation, technology, manufacturing, and retail infrastructure have helped to deliver on the promise of taste and health.

This story illustrates how asking the right questions has helped Iceberg icecreams to standout among other brands. Also, it is equally critical to keep asking the right questions to sustain that success in this competitive world.
